Muvment is Autogirl's peer-to-peer mobility marketplace. Owners list verified cars, renters book by the hour, day or month, and the platform handles trust, availability, payment and settlement in between.

Autogirl started in 2019 and became Muvment: owners earn from idle vehicles, renters get vetted cars without a rental company's price and inventory ceiling. Tens of thousands of rentals so far, now expanding beyond Nigeria.

What made it hard.

Two-sided marketplaces fail on trust before they fail on supply. Owners need to believe their asset is safe; renters need to believe the car exists and is roadworthy.

Availability is genuinely hard: overlapping bookings, buffer windows, driver assignment and multi-day trips across cities all collide in one calendar.

Money has to move correctly and visibly, owners want to see earnings, pending payouts and bookings in real time, not in a monthly statement.

The decisions that shaped it.

Trust as a product surface

Vehicle verification, document capture, owner profiles and inspection state are first-class objects in the data model, not admin afterthoughts. Every listing carries a legible provenance trail that both sides of the marketplace can read.

An availability engine that holds up

Bookings are modelled as intervals with configurable buffers, blackout windows and driver assignment, so the calendar stays truthful under concurrent demand instead of double-selling a vehicle.

Owner economics in the open

A dedicated owner surface exposes live bookings, realised earnings and pending payments. Making the money visible is the single strongest retention lever a supply-side marketplace has.

Built to cross borders

Cities, currencies, pricing rules and vehicle classes are configuration rather than code, so expansion into new markets is an operations task, not an engineering project.
